Norrland YMCA Hostel (shortened NY Hostel) has been completely renovated in Nordic design and is located in the heart of Umeå, only 350 meters from Umeå Central Station.
We have 48 rooms and can offer both single, double and multi-bed rooms.
All rooms are equipped with TV and desk with reading lamp. All guests have access to a lounge, fitness room, laundry room, self-catering kitchen, free Wi-Fi and a unique climbing hall.
Via key box after 14.00. Code will be received by email or text message on the day of arrival after the booking is paid.
Check out no later than 10.00. The key is left in the grey box under the check-in box at the entrance.
The room key also unlocks the entrance door.
Our breakfast buffet is included in all our prices and is served weekdays from 06:00 to 08:30 and public holidays from 08:00 to 09:30. We have a large selection of everything from freshly baked bread, waffles, our own stir-fries and porridge mixes to vegan cold cuts and gluten- and lactose-free alternatives.
Early departure? We can always arrange a breakfast bag, if you notify us the day before 15.00.
Is located by the reception.
Located in close proximity to the room, in each corridor. A number of rooms have WC. For our female guests, menstrual protection is available in our toilets when you need it. We got your back.
If you want to cook your own food, there are two solid and well-equipped self-catering kitchens with seating. We sort and compost for the sake of the environment and hope that our guests do the same.
A health room for light exercise with yoga mats, pilates balls and simpler equipment is available to all guests.
A place to gather, watch TV, play cards and socialize.
Pets are accepted on request and are welcome to stay in an animal friendly room. Only a limited number of rooms are available so make sure to contact us when you want to book a room of that sort. A fee of SEK 200 will be added.
A bike room for minor repairs and safe storage of your bicycle during your stay. We offer the rental of two bicycles during the summer period. Talk to the staff for more information.
You can cancel for free up to 1 day before arrival. If canceled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, the total price of the reservation will be charged.
As a guest, you need to pay the total price of the reservation in advance within 1 day before arrival.
Parking is available across the street in the Järnvägsallén car park (open 05.00–22.00) and around the corner in the Nanna car park (open 24 hours a day).
As a guest, you can book an appointment in our laundry room free of charge. Sign up in the laundry room and bring your own detergent.
As our guest you have access to free internet throughout our hostel.
Children of all ages are welcome.
If you need to borrow a cot for your room, let us know when booking.

Smoking is prohibited on our premises, except in the designated area outdoors.
As a student, you always have a 10% discount with us. Enter discount code: student10 and then write your student card number in the message box a few pages later. Call us for information on other discounts, e.g. for longer stays.
Within walking distance you can find all the city center shops and only 300 meters away there are local buses to Avion shopping (IKEA) and Stora Birk Trade Area.
Just 250 meters from us there is an grocery store that is open until 23:00 every day. Within a short walking distance there are also many of Umeå's restaurants and cafés with taste experiences for both large and small wallets.
All Umeå local buses depart from Vasaplan, which is only 300 meters away from NY Hostel. Below you can find a list of other options for travel to and from us.
